Fungi & Lichens

This section is dedicated to photographs of fungi and lichens in their natural environments.
Fungi form a diverse kingdom of organisms that live without leaves, stems, or photosynthesis, ranging from delicate mushrooms to molds and other spore-bearing structures. Lichens, on the other hand, are fascinating symbiotic communities of fungi and algae, often appearing as crusts, carpets, or intricate branching forms on rocks, trees, and soil.

The focus lies on the unique forms, textures, and colors of fungi and lichens, as well as their ecological role in natural cycles. Both wide scenes in forests and landscapes and detailed macro studies of individual specimens are welcome.

Upload your photos here that showcase wild fungi and lichens in nature, whether captured in documentary, naturalistic, or artistic style. Cultivated plants and garden settings belong in the Garden Flowers or other appropriate subsections.
