View to the volcanos on Java
After my dive in Balinese waters nearby the island Menjangan, we surprised about a dirty stream coming from the island Java.
It was an eruption of the volcano Gunung Raung. Next day they closed the airport in Denpasar and four other airfields for two days.
Intense ash emissions continue to produce a plume that stretches hundreds of kilometers to the SW. Many flights to and from Bali were canceled or delayed today again.
The detected heat emission, based on satellite data from NASA's MODIS sensor, remains elevated, although it has decreased significantly during the past days.

ja danke Ruedi, vorne ist erst mal der Kawa Bulan Sabit, dahinter der Gunung Ijen und links verdeckt der Gunung Raung, dessen Aschewolke wir deutlich sahen. Menschen kamen glücklicherweise nicht zu Schaden, doch noch in Singaraja fiel feine Asche auf die Straße. Gruß jetzt aus München WolfgangRuedi of Switzerland 09/08/2015 19:31
