The lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) is from the plover family (Charadriidae), which belongs to the order of waders, gulls and alcids.The lapwing prefers open, flat and moist permanent grassland, meadows, pastures and floodplains. However, its habitat - wet grassland - has become rare in Germany. Where grassland has been converted, the lapwing, which is faithful to its breeding site, can also be found in fields. However, it usually breeds there with little or no success, so that even such breeding sites become orphaned after a few years.The lapwing has been driven out of its original habitat. The main factors are drainage, lowering of groundwater, early mowing of meadows, industrial peat cutting, afforestation of moors and agricultural work. Other threats include disturbance of breeding areas by intensive recreational use, and in some countries still direct persecution by hunting and egg collectors.

Der Kiebitz (Vanellus vanellus) stammt aus der Familie der Regenpfeifer (Charadriidae), die zur Ordnung der Wat-, Möwen- und Alkenvögel gehört.Der Kiebitz bevorzugt offenes, flaches und feuchtes Dauergrünland, Wiesen, Weiden und Überschwemmungsflächen. Sein Lebensraum - das Feuchtgrünland - ist in Deutschland jedoch selten geworden. Wo Grünland umgebrochen wurde, kann man den brutplatztreuen Kiebitz auch auf Äckern antreffen. Meist brütet er dort aber ohne oder nur mit geringerem Erfolg, so dass auch solche Brutplätze nach einigen Jahren verwaisen.Der Kiebitz wurde aus seinem ursprünglichen Lebensraum vertrieben. Hauptfaktoren hierfür sind Entwässerung, Grundwasserabsenkung, frühe Wiesenmahd, industrieller Torfabbau, Aufforstung von Mooren sowie landwirtschaftliche Arbeiten. Zu weiteren Gefährdungsursachen zählen Störungen der Brutgebiete durch intensive Freizeitnutzung, sowie in manchen Ländern auch immer noch die direkte Verfolgung durch Jagd und durch Eiersammler.

Den hast Du Dir schön rangeholt.Wo überwintern die Kiebitze eigentlich? So womöglich fliegen sie gar nicht mehr in den Süden seitdem die Winter bei uns so warm sind.
