Somewhere in Anatolia...

Turkie
Anatolia Cappadocia

In Cappadocia, remote Anatolia, Greek traces still remain plenty and quite evident in towns and villages as their tenants hastily abandonned them and fled away after the Treaty of Lausane(1923) put an end in the war between the two countries, settled their original present borders and imposed an exchange of population. More than a million Greek refugees fled from Turkie to Greece leaving behind thriving jobs and fortunes and taking only bare necessities with them. Descendants of them still take pilgrimage trips looking for remaining traces of their houses often getting friendly welcome by the present tenants Turks and also support in their search.
As my camera was also looking for such traces once, fell upon a small kid that perched on a cut tree trunc looked at me with curiosity but eventually granted me a friendly smile of friendship and acceptance. I knew history in details. He, obviously, knew nothing about conflict or hatred. He had nothing to give me but his smile.I had a small piece of chocolate for him. As we separated in silence I waved at him and he waved back. Not a big deal but in such a simple manner we felt friends....

: ) what a great disarmingly genuine, heartwarming and hilariously conspiratorial smile! it involves the whole face, from mouth to sparkling eyes, a sign of the great wordless rapport going on between him and you! beautifully captured, alexander! an irresistibly charming picture! greetings, sabine. p.s:. i'm sure he's practicing to become the best levitator in the village! ; ))

La foto è particolarmente interessante concentrata nello sguardo di questo ragazzo e nel contesto ambientale fotografato.
Interessante la rievocazione storica di episodi che sembrano lontani ma vicini per chi ne è stato coinvolto attraverso parenti o amici.
    Ciao Alexandros

A superb picture and accompanied by a beautiful story of how you met with and mae a friend of this young man. That smile is worth any fortune, great or small, and a smile, like love and friendship, is one of those things that can never ever be taken... it can only ever be given.

    :))

Des rencontres sans fard qui laissent des souvenirs.
Quoi de plus précieux que le sourire d'un enflant.
J'apprécie le cadrage et le N&B.
    Amitiés.
