Poverty induces Art

Greece
Aegean Sea
Dodecanese
Telos island
"pezoules"

"Poverty induces Art" told ancient Greeks!
In this tiny. almost totally bare and rocky Aegean island that not even a single tree can be seen sprouting, locals created the "pezoules" as the only mean to secure some cultivating space on the rocky and steep mountain slopes and provide, at least, the bare necessities of food.
Pezoules can also be seen in other rocky and volcanic islands especially in Cyklades complex.
At the far end, though, the sparkling Aegean Sea offers some prospect and hope....

It must have been a fierce fight, but nature was nature was the stronger force in the end.
