Paris #1 (Mona Lisa)

I've been many times in Paris privat and for work, but now I have spend a week in Paris with my family. Of course most of you think that I was making pictures day and night - sorry I didn't. The point is that I didn't want to make all of these shots like postcards or similar to thoose I have made many years ago. So I was on my way to discover things again... like here in the Louvre in front of the most famous painting.....

in these highly digitalized times, the times of www.louvre.fr, or www.wikipedia.de, or www.whatever.com ; )), where every desired information is accessible to everyone at just one click, it is hard to find authenticity, hard to feel real art when you see it, because all the famous works have been copied, photographed, reprinted etc. thousands of times already. second-hand reception is much more familiar to us – the picture of a picture, the reproduction of art, it calms us to see our expectations confirmed. and so the picture in the display is more "mona lisa" to us than the painting on the louvre wall – yet it's dead as dodo. doesn't move us anymore… our senses are dulled. tough times for true art! the man in your shot is on a safari, he's seen and captured (and not really seen!!) the first of the big 5 and will now move on to whatever room is next on his plan. the mona lisa? dead game, a trophy, nothing else. he wasn't moved by it. he's a hunter, but not hunting for knowledge… a great moving statement on art and its "vulgar" modern reception !! greetings, sabine.

What a fabulous idea showing both the "real" painting and the photographer getting his shot in ..... a great and different view from the Louvre!!!
