Northbound Amtrak Carolinian Enters Southwest Washington
Amtrak’s northbound Train No.80, The Carolinian, rolls into southwest
Washington, D.C. on its way to Union Station on this sunny late afternoon.
At this point, most of the train would be on the Long Bridge, crossing the Potomac between Virginia and D.C.
The train will soon pass through the L’Enfant Plaza complex and, a few minutes later will swing north and enter the
tunnel under Capitol Hill, which will bring it into the lower level of Union Station.(*) There, the two P42 diesels will
leave the train and an ACS-64 (**) Sprinter-class electric locomotive (or two) will couple up to power The Carolinian
on the continuation of its journey from Charlotte, North Carolina, up the Northeast Corridor to New York.

Right - what would a railfan want more than a balcony to watch trains while having a drink and the camera at hand!Strong b&w, Steve, a matching train in an urban surrounding.
