New Holland Honeyeater/ Weißaugen Honigfresser
Das Verbreitungsgebiet des Weißaugen-Honigfressers umfasst Tasmanien und Südaustralien und von Brisbane (Queensland) bis nördlich von Perth (Westaustralien). Er lebt in Hecken, Wäldern, Parks und Gärten.
Die bemerkenswert wirksame Zunge des Honigessers sammelt in weniger als einer Sekunde Flüssigkeit aus Blüten. Die Zunge ähnelt einem Künstlerpinsel an der Spitze und ragt ungefähr zehnmal pro Sekunde in den Nektar hinein. Andere Lebensmittel sind Obst, Insekten und Spinnen.
The distribution area of the New Holland Honeyeater includes Tasmania and South Australia and from Brisbane (Queensland) to north of Perth (Western Australia). It lives in hedges, forests, parks and gardens.
The honey eater's remarkably effective tongue collects liquid from flowers in less than a second. The tongue resembles an artist's brush at the tip and protrudes into the nectar about ten times a second. Other foods include fruit, insects, and spiders.
