Love Locks

A love lock or love padlock is a padlock which sweethearts lock to a bridge, fence, gate, or similar public fixture to symbolize their love.[1] Typically the sweethearts' names or initials are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolise unbreakable love. Since the 2000s, love locks have proliferated at an increasing number of locations worldwide. They are often treated by municipal authorities as litter or vandalism, and there is some cost to their removal.

I can't see the purpose in these whatsoever.
they only mean something to the ones that leave them there.
would you look at these locks and think oh 'sue loves john' big deal, who are they.
I don't get it, or am I just stupid.
    regards, Maurice.

what an ingenious move to capture them in a b/w image! the monochrome rendering provides them with a very original texture, turning them into some kind of rugged looking rock! deprived of their color, they look both strangely surreal and strangely archaic at the same time… a very original shot of a popular motif and fad! greetings, sabine. p.s.: the young woman's skeptical look cracks me up: "for the love of mike, don't ever make me put one up!", she seems to say… ; )

...great monochrome image of the hundreds of "Love Locks", also seems to be a lot of graffiti, wonderful detail and super tonal range....

this tradition has not come across the big pond yet - at least I have never seen it anywhere here ... quite a scene here with so so many locks and people checking them out ... I can imagine crazy colours in your original image and like this in black and white with all the fine details and definition and your perspective !!!
    greetings, Adele
