In Memoriam 9/11

The North Pool of the 9/11 Memorial occupies the footprint of the North Tower destroyed in the terrorist attacks
on this date in 2001. Adjacent to it in this expansive plaza at World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, the South Pool marks where the South Tower stood. Freedom Tower, One World Trade Center rises proudly near where I stood for this photo on a June afternoon in 2017. Beyond the pool can be seen the Oculus Transportation Center. The black monolith beyond is the Millennium Hilton Hotel.

May I share also a memory of the Twin Towers, as seen from a
23rd floor hotel room in Midtown sometime in the mid-80s. (*)
