Diss Mere Norfolk mystery

Diss is a pretty little town in South Norfolk surrounded by a beautiful countryside of the Waveney Valley. But the highlight is its puzzling small lake found in the Market Town of Diss. How was it formed is a real mystery and also where does its water come from!.. An old tradition speaks of a crater of a dormant volcano but the surrounding area doesn't comply with it.The lake is 6 acres and about 60 ft depth. Its bottom is covered with 40ft of mud.
(The photo is dedicated to Sue Thomson as she has recently visited the area)

the title to the image already sounds fascinating! i just googled diss mere, norfolk, and looked at some aerial views: seen from above those meres do look a lot like craters – very strange indeed! i like, how you captured it through a "hole" in the trees, which makes it even more precious and mysterious looking: a lake with a secret! greetings, sabine. p. s.: is it just me, or is the image leaning a little to the left?
