well, the Aegean is named after Aegeus, a king of Athens whose son was Theseus. Theseus went to Crete to kill the Minotaur and he told his father if he comes home alive he will change the sails of his ship to white.
But Mr. Theseus ( who seduced Ariadne and abandoned her on Naxos) was too busy and forgetful to change the sails from black to white and Aegeus was waiting anxiously. When he saw the black sails, he assumed his son was dead and hauled himself into the sea.
I hope I am telling the story correctly unless I am wrong...... beautiful, tranquil shot, Alex! janos
