Castle ‘Sterckshof’ at Deurne (Belgium)
The history of this castle goes way back before the 13th century when there was a reinforced moated farm on the location of the current castle.
The farm grew into a fortress that was bought by Gerard Sterck in 1524. This merchant, banker and counsellor of the mighty Emperor Charles V reconstructed the fortress into an opulent castle, called Sterckshof.
Extensive renovation works took place in the beginning of the 20th century.
