All That Remains
a peek into the kitchen of Mary and Al Palmer's homestead on 640 acre large Jedediah Island... they purchased the island in 1949 and lived and farmed there from 1972 till 1994 when they were in their 70s ... it is now a Marine Park, the island full of wild goats and sheep - and we love visiting by sailboat at least once a year ... I purposely did not straighten out the walls !!

I also remember that kind of wood stove ...Lillet..When I was a little girl...I enjoyed your nice picture all very realistic of that epoque.

Dein Bild läßt ein wenig erahnen, wie die Menschen hier gelebt haben und welchen "Luxus" sie genießen konnten. Der Herd hat die Zeiten nicht überstanden und ist in einem erbärmlichen Zustand.VG Ernst

Dieser Ofen hat bestimmt seinen Dienst getan. Er hat alles was man braucht, vom Backrohr - und ich nehme an, oben sind auch noch Backrohre extra zum Heizen - bis zum Warmwasserschiff.Noch vor etlchen Jahren hat man solche Öfen kaum mehr kaufen können, aber sie haben im Zuge der Verteuerung von Öl etc. eine Renaissance erlebt. Natürlich moderinisiert mit Ceranfeld etc. Ich selbst habe einen gekauft und gäbe ihn nicht mehr her.
