Nightscenes do attract me for paintings in a different style, and New York is always worth it. And if the weather is rainy and foggy on top....
Nachtszenen ziehen mich sehr an, um in einem anderen Stil zu malen und New York lohnt sich immer. Und wenn das Wetter dann noch regnerisch und neblig ist....
Oil on cardboard. Ölfarbe auf Pappbogen.

Thanks Enzo (Enzo Leprai) for the proposal on 17.11.10, !
Thanks all for the support, unfortunately the painting didn't make it...

can only echo bryan and mike: wow, great!! love how you made all those red city lights and tail lights of the cars look – cleary recognizable as light, yet connoting "blood" and "passion", too! and the everyday scene of a rainy and foggy metropolis becomes almost apocalyptic! very powerful work! greetings, sabine.
Hallo Susanna, schade das es dein Bild nicht geschafft hat. Aber bei mir ist es absolut die Nummer 1 !! Schaue es mir oft an, weil es so wahnsinnig lebendig ist. Also, nicht traurig sein !! Gruss Hans
In fact, this is not a photo, it is a photo taken from my painting.
An abstraction of a photo of a painter colleague (who gave me his permission to re-use his idea) made me try out another version of NY streets at night.
It is oil painting on thick Basic cardboard.
Susana
Thank you for your clarifications. Your remark make me remember Vik Muniz, a brazilian artist that also uses the phtotografy to recriate / reproduce his own objects, most of them not permanent, surviving only by photos.
Wonderful atmospheric "capture" of a New York moment. I love the perspective, as well as the kinetic activity of the two people, the misterioso of the way the streets lights accent and delineate the fog, as well as the steam emerging from under the street, and of course the cinema marquee - no doubt a European art flick from the spelling ;-)
It all works!
Compliments,
Steve
gosh, u painted this?
u know what, every morning i go out at around 6 and there are only dogs and some lorries or the guys collecting the garbage around. if it is a cold season, like it is now, the ground is generally wet and in dark weather u can see the reflection of all the lights which help ur road get brighten a little bit... how much u hurry up that much u r late, tired, excited and cold. at that kind of times, red is the dominant color that ur eyes can pick out in that dim atmosphere -u can even smell it, and the only thing u hear is the sound that ur shoes make. and u can never forget that smell of the streets at that time of the day in cold weather. deep inside, u feel that somewhere life has already started.
this work of urs actually made me have that mood again and it impressed me a lot.
extremely well done
keep up with the good work
