The corrupted Batista junta collapses under the Castro forces. Batista with all the rich tycoons posessing the glamorous mansions and palaces fllee to save their lives abandonning all their fortunes behind. The houses have been looted or confiscated. Locals since then live in there without having repaired a single hole on the wall. Only some dismal decorating stuff and morbid bits of fancy doors and windows has remained to remind their past days of glory.
A stroll in the Avana neighbourhoods gives an idea of this situation.

Battle scared, decaying and abandoned by the rich, yet the proor live here in the squalor and depravation. A sad end for all I think.
An excellent picture with thos people looking dejected and forlorn.
