A young street boy on the edge is connect to his faith and the toughness of his neighborhood. Survival sometimes comes under the disguise of buddhism for one's daily bread, and the hard work a child might to to make ends meet in the streets.

The fire gives warmth, and the incense is a purification of the soul. When one follows a religion, the path offers a simplification to life. Ritual and service to mankind. The street kid operates in a more sophisticated society the capitalized on survival with just a few rules. Offerings and food equate survival for another day. May it be a had out from a tourist, or the taking of donations out of the shrine itself. One this is clear, the street boy does hope for a better day when his life can change. Call him lucky if he escapes and finds a path to rehabilitation.

As I write from my experiences in Nepal, I say from my heart Merry Christmas to all the boys and girls that only heard of the myth that so many hold as a true. May Santa come and give him hope and leave a smile and path to a better life.
