Hi, I received a Fuji S7000 for Christmas 2004 from my daughter. She's 22 work's hard, graduated from Chapman University and paid cash for my gift. Now the good part, she lost the receipt, it happens, nobodies fault, but the camera came out of the box not working. Powered it up and quickly turned it off. In the viewfinder, it read, "ERROR AUTO ZOOM ERROR" i read the book, return to place of purchase or MFG. it stated. At the place of purchase, and this is a week after Christmas, waited in line for about 60 to 75 minutes, explained to the girl i would like to exchange this product for a working one. Receipt please. Sorry I said, Sorry she said. Without the original receipt we can't accept it. Tried to reason with her and a manager, but to no avail. The Mfg. Fuji also request a receipt, how do they know I bought it, to show proof I purchased the camera. ALL I WANT IS ONE THAT WORKS! NOT A BETTER ONE OR MONEY! So any suggestions, or offers for a brand new Fugi S7000 in the original box would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Hi - I am not at all suggesting you spoke in a bad manner to anybody but I do suggest calling FUJI again and again and being VERY nice to them .. I had a Canon that I bought in a used but 'as new' condition at end of april 2004. In april 2005 i got dust between the sensor and low-pass filter ... this is technically not neccessarily a fault (albeit demonstrating the lack of seal from the outside atmosphere ...) and I also had no receipt .. I spoke to loads of people and eventually got through to a repairer at Canon who agreed to mend it as a goodwill gesture without receipt and without arguing as to whether it was a manufacturing defect or not. They did the job and also replaced a couple of other bits F.O.C. without being asked ... my moral is therefore - be persistent and equally polite and also throw in a good deal of innocence and humility rather than sounding like a knowledgeable consumer who is trying to blag a free repair. Hope you get lucky .. try Trading Standards or CAB (citizens advice bureau) for advice if you dont get anywhere. Good Luck.

Thank you Paul for your reply. A fact i left out. I have been nothing but nice and polite. I know you gather more flies with honey then with vinegar. But you're right i need to keep contacting Fuji. I took it to a repair shop listed on Fujis site, as I had regesitered the camera on line for the warranty coverage. They told me it is not a reapair job but a factory return only.I asked if they could help me and told them of my problem, as I had the box and all the orginal attachments in factory condition as I never untied the cables or even opened the CD disk. I had only attached the strap and the batteries and the DXcard." No you will have to call Fuji, it's a factory return." I'm thinking I should just send it to Fuji with a letter and state, "It's of no use to me if you can't help a loyal customer, as this is the second Fuji I own, then throw it in the trash." okay a last resort...lol. I'll let you know what happens. Thank You Larry
