Contemporary - hands down - English born, Detroit trained, Internationally exhibited Godess of all media - JUDY PFAFF
I would be a rug for her to walk on to have an ounce of her gift.
http://www.judypfaff.org/biography/ .............but then after I was mortified that I did not give due respect to the most sublime Detroit icon Ernestine Ruben.

I present both women to those who have never witnessed their works with the utmost humility to their inspiration.
Pfaff inspired many of my abstractions. I love the presentations of her prints.
I owe Ruben for several images I've not shown on FC, didn't think they would be appreciated, maybe I'll show them, but also for (see her BODIES IN PLATINUM http://www.ernestineruben.com/Portfolio ... ?GP=7&IM=1 for reference to these)

Her gum dichromate landscapes stop me dead.
Have to also mention Michigan painter Helen Canuff, and modern artist and teacher Elaine Wooden. Not as well known outside of Michigan, but artist and great women that inspired several generations.
Sorry, guess I can't pick just one.
I saw a presentation of your Cartier Bresson in 2003 at Cranbrook Institute. Very good.
