USM, is it worth it?
I have already decided that i am going to buy a Canon 350d with a 18-55mm lens to start. I just wanted to know if you think it worth spending a little more to get the USM feature. Will it affect the quality of my pictures if i dont?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

It won't affect the technical quality but the fast focussing and predictive tracking of a USM lens will enable you to catch subjects in focus that you may otherwise be unable to. I guess it depends on what type of subjects and images you are shooting and what value you put into the convenience of fast, quiet focussing. Regards, Paul.
Thanks Paul, well i have gone out and got my new camera with the USM. for only £20 more i think it will be good to have.
I think you will find it helpful if you make a lot of handheld photos in marginal light. Someone who always uses a tripod will not need the feature.
Good luck and happy shootin' with your new cam !! looking forward to the results !
