AF VR Zoom-NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED
I'am looking at this lens (AF VR Zoom-NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED) to use on a Nikon D90,has any one used a similar set up and how does the lens perform? I will not be doing spotrs photography but will be using it for wildlife shots, many thanks.
Quite sure you will find this a great lens for the Nikon D90, no doubts about that. never used it myself but is has a very good reputation.
Thank you.
Andrew, though I don't own this lens, I have read many reviews on it and conclude the main complaint as being slow AF. The Sigma version apparently performs better. Do note that it is widely expected that Nikon will update the 80-400VR in the not too distant future. Perhaps the Sigma 50-500 is a good option...
Cheers,
Herman
PS. Tip - when I used my Sigma 50-500 lens in combination with my Nikon D50, I noticed that by adding a battery pack it offered a considerably better counter-weight.

Thanks Herman, I have decided to buy the Sigma 150-500mmf/5-6.3 DG OS HSM which seems to get good reveiws.
