About me
Manolis Kassimatis was born in Athens in 1958. He was taught
photography by his inspiring long gone father who was a former
recognized photo reporter working for the newspaper AUGI. From 1978
until 2002 Manolis Kassimatis was a member of the Greek Photographic
Society (EFE); in 2000 member of FOIBOS.Also is member of EETE(Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece).
He has studied Graphic Arts, offset printing, electronic typography and
photography. He was also a member of the cinematographic team MIRROR and designer of its magazine. He is member of the cultural company of ANONYMOUS and a columnist of the magazine PHOTOGRAPHIC IDOL, the editor
of his own photographic magazine PHOTOGRAPHING (FOTOGRAFIZONTAS) as well as the editor of EK TYPOIS, a magazine on typography and its history.
Manolis Kassimatis is also the founding member of the photo group ARS LONGA-VITA BREVIS and the experimental photographic team PROVA D'ARTE.
His photo creation has been published in various magazines, FUN IN
ACTION, ATHLETE, METRO etc He has had 5 individual photo
exhibitions and participates in a lot of collective ones.
He also manages the photographic work of his father Stelios Kassimatis
and is responsible for the documentation of photographic reports from
the exile period of 1945-1974 and simultaneously studies the historical
value and dynamics of photographic documentation of this hard period.
Manolis Kassimatis coordinates an effort heading towards the creation
of a company dedicated to the perseverance of photographic files and
known but also unknown photographers and deals with the electronic
printing of photo albums such as FRIENDS, He also deals with the
organization of photo exhibitions such as the 1st Pan-Hellenic meeting
of teams and clubs. Nowadays he provides lessons of photography and
photographic techniques and shoots athletic events, travelling themes,
concerts, dancing and experimental subjects.
