Water Wheel

This is the old water wheel at Cape Leeuwin, Western Australia. It ceased turning sometime between the mid 60's and early 70's as best I can find out, since then the calcium has slowly been turning it to stone.
Was rewarded with 30 seconds or near perfect light at the end of a 300 km drive of hope on the worse day of weather imaginable. Canon 10D , 17-40L ISO 400 F18 aperture priority. The seeming oversaturation has stemmed from the image being captured in those few moments as the sun is half below the horizon and the last rays being reflected off the underside of a very heavy cloud mass that is out of frame to the left of shot..

    great colours David.
the image seems really saturated to me?
but the decay is wonderful and the sky really adds to the feel.
welcoe to fotocommunity, hope to see more of your work.
