Wat Thai Wattanaram near Mae Soot
Wat Thai Wattanaram had an old name called Wat Mae Tao Ngeo or Wat Thai Yai.
This is a temple complex in Mahayana Buddhism of the Thai Yai people. Moreover, the traditions, arts, culture, rituals which were received an influence by the Union of Myanmar.
It was built in 1857 by Khun Mung a Burmese from Shan State who emigrated to live in Mae Sot district and he becomes the first village headman of Mae Tao village.
A Buddha image in this temple is a replica of the sacred Buddha image and the priceless Buddha image from Mandalay in Myanmar.
