Trauma

Reminiscences merged with yearning for those moments that were taken away from us, twined around a veil of haze starting to separate us. Can we cry while remembering something that didn't come to pass? The picture of how I imagined you to be is fading to the one portraying who you really are. I never thought your presence could ever raze me more than your absence. Today, pungent words still don't pass around the spot where you broke my spine. You laid down on my frail shoulders a burden so heavy I couldn't get up, and you stood above me, laughing at my weakness. Every time I reached for your hand to raise me, your handed me out another brick. Years went by before I got enough strength to get on my feet carrying that heaviness. It has become a part of me, a conjoined twin attached to my heart stealing its beats. And you, you are far away, living the life you gained for selling mine. And every time I only hear your voice, wistfully I recall why I don't need to ache for it...
