@Karl, I think the steps in the mud add to this photo,rather than destroy it.
The steps make the mud, more "ugly", bringing out more of the beauty in the model (Iris).
The steps also add a somewhat of a mystery to this photo, making you think who was there, or what happened before.
The evidence is all there...you be the detective.

you hade a very good idea Iris,pose and model are nice, but the steps in the sand destroy the beauty of your pic
as Jamie suggested, you should take a closer shot or change the angle.
