Sucked into the vortex

"WHAT'S UP WITH THE BIG SKULL?
Constructed in its entirety back in 1996 by Michael Benoit (co-owner of The Vortex with siblings Hank and Suzanne) the looming entryway measures about 11 feet wide by 22 feet high and was sculpted out of cement. The inspiration came from roadside attractions the artist remembered from childhood growing up in California. The "Laughing Skull" has since become an icon of the Little 5 Points neighborhood."
