Hmm, here I think the first version works better.The use of a tele-lens makes that you not really get an idea of the boats size, it looks like if it's compressed. And this rope, you ask yourself "where does it go?" so it would be better to see that too.
Did you try to crop the picture? I think you could cut away a good part of the sky, maybe also some water below.
Don't misunderstand me, it's not a bad picture but version 1 is better!
