The animals are loyal to their habitat and live in groups of 2 to 12 birds in a territory of up to 100 km²,

In many areas of southern Africa, hornbills are considered sacred birds and as they eat grasshoppers and snakes, they are rarely hunted.

Die Tiere sind ihrem Lebensraum treu und leben in Gruppen von 2 bis 12 Vögeln in einem Revier von bis zu 100 km², das sie gegen andere Gruppen verteidigen.
In vielen Gebieten des südlichen Afrikas gelten Nashornvögel als heilige Vögel, und da sie sich von Heuschrecken und Schlangen ernähren, werden sie nur selten bejagt.
