Pack Horse Bridge over River Goyt, Near Marple Lakes

This is an ancient pack horse bridge, near to the so-called Roman Lakes at Marple, Cheshire. It is on the route of a circular walk we sometimes go on, from Marple Bridge, which takes us past the Roman Lakes, which are not actually Roman, but a product of local mill owner, Samuel Oldknow, who once had a mill nearby. The bridge is so slender, you wonder sometimes how it stays up! The walk takes us up a stiff climb just after the bridge, up onto the Peak Forest Canal, and back into Marple, descending back to Marple Bridge. There is a kiosk at the Roman Lakes where you can take in refreshments. It makes for a very pleasant outing.

This is another example of the kind of results you can achieve with the cheapest of equipment. Taken with the £40 Relysis 3 megapixel camera. Unfortunately, the camera is now non-functional, but it has served me well.
