On hike through the snowy swamp (2)

Winter is here with bitter cold temperatures far below zero, a biting northeastern wind, not much snow (but better than nothing) and sunny conditions.
Perfect weather for me to make a hike.

This landscape shot shows the snow covered swampy peat moors of ‘Hohes Venn’.
‘Hohes Venn’ is the greatest (4500 ha) and oldest National Park of Belgium and the most unique nature biotope in the land.
The whole area is vast and desolate. It consists mainly of swamps which can only be traversed by using the wooden paths that were made by the local foresters.

The photo is lovely!
And seeing your this landscape again I can understand your "Wanderlust", it looks perfect for a hike in solitude, maybe with some lovely music on an iPod or just listening to the silence ... there's not much of it knowadays, is there?

another fine one with good use of the branches on top !!
would use half the tree rightside as frame Mark .....

So beautiful this landscape - fine compo with the tall birch in the foreground - great to see how the boardwalk winds its way through the swamp - protection for both the visitor and the plant- and animal life.

And if you fall down from the catwalk,
you won't get wet at these temperatures,
because of the frozen swamp.
