Knallkrebse
Synalpheus stimpsoni - Stimpson’s Snapping Shrimp
- auch Pistolenkrebse genannt -
Der deutsche Name resultiert aus ihrer Fähigkeit, einen Knall erzeugen zu können. Die Krebse stoßen beim Schließen der Knallschere blitzschnell einen Wasserstrahl aus, der eine Kavitationsblase bildet, welche mit einem sehr lauten Knall implodiert. Damit lassen sich Fressfeinde und Artgenossen beeindrucken, aber auch selbst Beute erlegen.
Gesehen in der Lembeh Strait, Nordsulawesi, Januar 2015.
