Die Waechter eines der vier Tore des Halebeid Tempels

Dieser Tempel in Suedindien ist Sieva gewidmet. Detaillierte Erklaerung meines indischen Kollegen Sreekanth Anandaram: The four doors of the temples are usually guarded by two guardians each totally counting to 8 persons. They have different names, in the divine army they have the status of wing commanders. In sanskrit the word indicate all of them is "Dwarapalakas" the one who protect the entrance doors. These people will differ for each god. Because each god has his own small army for the functions they are assigned to. They are also worshiped as part of the temple worship procedure, so a part of the offering to the main deity goes to all these guardians too.
