Die Ackerschmalwand (Arabidopsis thaliana, L.) wird in der Pflanzenforschung als Modelorganisums genutzt, da das Genomsequenz sehr gut charakterisiert ist und die Pflanze einfach gentechnisch zu verwändern ist. Hier ist ihr Wachstum im Labor zu sehen.
