I made this photo in the summer 2015, while visiting my parents in Slowenia, where I was born. Finding myself in the house of my childhood, I was confronted with the issues, I had to deal with, when I was growing up - eating disorders, overweight, body obsession, lack of freedom in discovering my own sexuality etc. Standing there as a grown up woman, the memories took control of me and I remebered of a picture, which I often saw in my mind, when I was a little girl – back then I often wanted to take the scissors and cut the meat off. Twenty years later I took the camera and made the images out of my mind haptic. To strive after perfection, but miss the point, where the borders cross, when productiveness becomes destructive – this is the game of balance, that we all play, and also, what this photo is about.
