curious & shy
this street-kid in varanasi, india was watching me for quite a while - a stranger sitting at the ghat far away from the tourist paths. communication was not possible. i showed her the pictures i had taken from other kids - she looked at them with great interest. then i asked her in sign language to take her picture - she agreed and just looked at me with this mix of curiosity and timidness.....
the next day when i gave her a print of the picture she answered with a great smile that will always be linked to this picture for me.

"off the tourist path" findet auch heute noch pures, unverfälschtes Leben statt, in dem die Begegnung zählt. Deine Portraits zeugen immer wieder von großer Empathie und Achtung vor den Menschen - dies zu sehen gefällt mir sehr!O.
