Castle Lavaux Sainte-Anne (Belgium)
There has been a fortified watchtower on this spot ever since the 13th century, but the present structure dates back to 1450.
With its massive round towers, moat, loopholes and drawbridge, the castle was and still looks unconquerable.
In the 18th century the castle was remodelled with some Italian elements like the monumental Renaissance gate f.e.
Lastly, the whole castle underwent a refreshing restoration in the 20th century.

it's beautiful and very imposing, in a kind of "good-natured" way: must be due to the the round "helmet-wearing" towers which make the castle look well-shielded ( and defensive, but strangely and thankfully peacable, like a well-protected tortoise or armadillo ; ))… great shot of the castle, mark! greetings, sabine. p.s.: i'm impressed with the design of the garden, those bushes trimmed in the shape of hour glasses in particular!† Ushie Farkas 17/05/2011 4:01
