Blauflügel-Prachtlibelle

Sadly a rare sight: The beautiful demoiselle or calopteryx virgo. This demoiselle is actually a boy. I just had to stop as I saw the metallic blue wings shining in the sun, it was a really dreamy moment.

The species is endangered because it has high demands on the quality of their habitat.

I met him in the woods near our house with actually no ponds or streams near, which is unusual as males of the species have an area of activity of around 100 metres square and usually live near the waterplaces they are born in.
