A Rainy Night in the City

Steel plates, scaffolding, and steam from below compete with traces of holiday decorations
on a downtown Baltimore street, as a cold, penetrating wintry rain falls on this December night.

Had the East Coast storm taken a different course, it might have been a city snowscape…
or an exercise in driving on black ice. All in all, I was grateful for the rain…
and for having my little point-and-shoot along on the front seat.

But it felt so-o-o nice to run up the window, spool up the heat and point the car homeward.
