A new day

Early morning in Oakland Nature Preserve where this alligator warmed itself in the first rays of sun. There is a 1km boardwalk that winds through wetlands and terminates at a large pavilion overlooking Lake Apopka (Orlando, Florida). Smaller and bigger (this one was 2mtr) alligators can be found there, among other animals and birds.

@Ana: Thanks for your comment. There are a lot of crocs in Florida indeed, sometimes in people's back yard.

Yes It seems a smaller one, based on the comparison with its surrounding plants.
Florida must be in very ideal condition for the living of crocodiao, I see many pictures concerning Florida include crocodiaos.
    Thanks for the comments!
    Have a nice weekend

@Cees: although I was in Florida last week this picture is of last year november, on an early sunday morning. This alligator was pretty close, about 10mtr away. Only the wooden fence of the boardwalk separated us but I don't think it would have come closer. These animals are pretty shy. I found a smaller one (75cm.) only 2 mtr away. So cute :-)
