Qahveh Khanehei Painting (Tea House style of painting)

Painter: Ahmad Khalili ,1380
Subject: Folk stories about Moses and the Israelites

Pardeh-dari and Pardeh-khaani are visual forms of story-telling done before a big cloth or canvas (pardeh) hung in a square, or the walls of a tea of coffee house, painted on which are the events of the story being told, which the story-teller would refer to during their recounting.

    I think to the painter Brughel the Old in Europe centuries ago, with so many persons present in his artistic work. This subject with Moses and the Israelites has also as historical actors the Kananei, which 'll be known a long time after, as Phoenicians.

    Your tradition is wonderful to paint, before, the tea or coffee house, in realtionship with the history the public 'd be listen by the counter.

    Excellent document and composition. +++++

    It has a two fold purpose then, to make a wall nice and colourful and to use as a very visual storytelling aid.
    There is a lot to talk about on this hanging and if it is in a tea or coffee shop you can have a drink while listening to the story!
    Hugs

    what a great oral tradition! with the forever present new media digitally swamping us these days ; )), we keep forgetting about the great satisfying "analog" ways of telling a story! greetings, sabine.

    Too bad that today, no more stories are to be told.
    But this painting also stimulates the imagination.
