Love Goddess of the Streets
You can tell she owns this passageway between the two streets. You step in there and you belong to her.
The human like roll they seem to portray in the cities and ghettos is shocking. Everyone that could had bars on this windows. It was like living in cells. They come in packs and rob you blind. The monkeys sometimes attack your children in your home like wolf packs. Yet we feel sorry for the monkeys because they are cute. If they attack you you can forget nirvana and being cremated you come back to least as a bug.

i agree with frederick! what a great symbiosis between words and image!!! and your remark about us feeling sorry for them, the monkeys, because they are cute – it hits right home, makes me feel guilty because, yes, of course, it's what i felt right away, when looking at your "love goddess" here: the comfortably folded feet, the hungry, half-trusting look, the worn teats, the assumption that she's a responsible mom trying to survive and provide for herself and her offspring perched on the wall further back in the alley… – it all makes my heart go out to her! and yet, i'm aware of the fact, that it's often easier for me to feel compassion for animals than for my fellow human beings – a tough truth, that should make me feel ashamed, which it does! so in other words: your picture is a look in the mirror in more than just one way: monkeys! they are so much like us – the evolutionary kinship, it's all there in their eyes, their pose, their fear and curiosity so similar to ours. but while i'm looking at your streetwise twosome here, i'm thinking of the many poor, unprivileged people around the world that lead a life much like theirs – or even worse… this tour around the streets of india that you are taking us on, with its glimpses into some random lives is a revelation!! greetings, sabine.Frederick Mann 24/04/2012 8:53
