When Vancouver was Young

A well-known Vancouver image of City Hall ("Rathaus") set up in a tent after the great fire of 1886 ....... found this in a window of the library complete with reflections ( I went back on March 16th and took more pictures as planned).

City work and planning still has to continue despite catastrophes! I love looking at old pictures and seeing what the fashions were. What fabulous beards and moustaches they wore then! ;)) Not a hoody or a ripped pair of jeans in sight either!!

These gentlemen have had a good sense of photos
in the old, and also difficult times, it seems. -
That has obviously not changed in Vancouver.

It's a very interesting docu shot of the past and the reflections with your self-portrait and red car are a great extra bonus !

GREAT – not only the historical picture but also collage-like combination of the ancient photo with those fragments of modern life in the reflections: they are like "shards of surreality" and add such delightful little twists to it! the lower right corner, for example, is amazing, where the ancient sepia toning suddenly turns into color – a green lawn, a red care whooshing by and an eager contemporary photographer contorting herself/ her self into the perfect position for taking her ancient fellow-citizens' picture! photographic time travels… two more ingeniously weird little details: near the upper right corner of the shot, close to that patch of pale blue, i see a tiny spider(man) falling from the sky! and a little further down a big gray snake is inappropriately wiggling its way (sorry, gotta say it ; ))) out/or into the pants of the poor man to the very right! hugs, sabine.

Perfect way to keep history - to show it for next generations! And it is better to see one time then to hear many times! Thanks, Adele!
