On the farm (12) : Kempense Geit
Kempense Geit (°) is a very old Belgian breed of goats descended from the White Irish goat centuries ago.
Nowadays, this animal is on the edge of extinction as only a handful of people is maintaining the breed. Currently there are only 212 specimens alive and that causes serious inbreeding problems.
In 2013 only 2 little goats were born, none in 2014 and so far this year again 2 (see my picture).
(°) : There exists no specific English name for this breed of goats but literally translated it means : Campine Goat (Campine being a region in Flanders)

oh, how beautiful! with their light eyes, white fur, pink ears and sage looks on their impish little faces ; ) they display a certain aloofness, an otherworldy air, as though they were horned pagan gods in earthly disguise… so cute, how you captured them surrounded by lush green and with their backs against their equally divine looking mom! greetings, sabine. p.s.: i have a weak spot for farm animals, and i think it's just so great to try and preserve those ancient breeds!Gaby Falkenberg 04/05/2015 9:22
