This couple of Jackdaws has just finished mating (sorry, I was too late for a shot) and now enjoys a bit of rest.
The Jackdaw is a clamorous bird with distinctive white irises and one of the smallest species in the genus of crows and ravens.
Jackdaws can sometimes be seen while removing tick from sheep or red deer.
Dutch name : Kauw
German name : Dohle
Latin name : Corvus monedula
Great shot. Congratulations!
The jackdaw is a bird of the year 2012. Although extremely intelligent and joyful learning jackdaw be adaptable omnivores likely, it is increasingly rare.
: ))))))) caught in the act – well, almost! in fact, i think the bird on the right will start whistling any time now, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible, like they do in silent movies and cartoons… ; )) i like jackdaws very much! such beautiful light and intelligent eyes, and the fluffy feathers on their tummies – very cute! don't mind the noise either. stealing my all-year-round greaseballs will be a crime, though… so don't even think about it, guys! i'm already at war with a couple of crows who keep flying away with them, as though they were soap on a rope… ; )) greetings, sabine.
A great capture of these two mated for life and hopefully soon to raise one or two offspring - we don't see them here at all, and they are so striking with those piercing eyes. Fine details in their plumage - and the scene leaves room for the imagination :-)))
