The Fungi world (21) : Black witches' butter

This quite gelatinous fungus grows typically on dead wood of mostly oak or beech.

In this shot one can see clearly 3 different stages of this fungus.

Dutch name : Zwarte trilzwam
German name : Stoppeliger Drüsling
Latin name : Exidia glandulosa (syn. Exidia plana)

Ich bin wirklich beeindruckt, was du so alles weißt.
Das hätte ich nie als Pilz erkannt.
Auch deine Erklärungen unter jedem Bild sind sehr kompetent. Man kann von dir echt noch viel lernen.

Die sehen aus wie Teerkleckse. Mark, Deine hervorragenden Aufnahmen von häufigen und seltenen Pilzen sind geeignet, ein tieferes Interesse an diesen seltsamen Wesen , die weder Tier noch Pflanze sind, zu wecken. Ein Interesse, das über die Frage der Genießbarkeit hinausgeht, sondern auch die Lebensweise und Ästhetik beinhaltet.

Wow!! I never would have thought, that this was a fungus. Actually I first thought it was....ähh....I don't know what....?!? How do you know so much about fungi? Are you a biologist or just interested in those plants?
