The Fungi world (12) : The Sickener
A fungus with a fine fruity smell and peppery taste, but poisonous !
It gets its common name from its inedibility, as it causes vomiting and diarrhea when consumed.
However, the Red Squirrel is known to forage for, store and eat the Sickener without problems.
The shot shows a young specimen.
Dutch name : Braakrussula
German name : Spei-Täubling
Latin name : Russula emetica

Bildaufbau und Schärfeverlauf sind wunderbar; durch die Vordergrund-/Hintergrundaufbau ist eine schöne Tiefenwirkung entstanden, die durch die Farben noch unterstützt wird. Und mitten dazwischen prangt der prächtige Pilz mit seinem sanft roten Hut. Ein klasse Bild!Gruß Christine
