yes, butterflies come and go in waves, it seems… last year we had lots of admirals, this year only cabbage whites. none of those last year… but what a beautiful capture this is! love the sunny cores of the asters – for some reason they make me think beehives and honey… ; ) the face of the butterfly sucking up the sought-after ambrosia through it's fragile little straw of a proboscis makes me chuckle: they always look so dopey with their huge eyes and tiny pupils – well, at least to me. i guess they just aren't the brightest bulb in the chandelier of animal kingdom – brain-wise speaking. but hey, who cares! the brightness of their wings more than compensates for that! ; )) greetings, sabine.
