Mesologgi

Mesologgi is a beautiful and very historic town in mid-Greece. During the Independance War(1821 to 1828), Mesologgi was seiged for a long time by the Ottoman army and heroically resisted till food became scarce and obliged the exhausted greek soldiers to an eroic exodus together with women and kids. Most of them were massacred.
In Mesologgi, during the Independance War, also died Lord Byron, the famous English poet that came to revolutionary Greece driven by his liberal views.
Mesologgi is surrounded by a beautiful lagoon that provides fishes and salt, main income for the locals.
