Heard from Sheppard how tourism is devasting some areas in Algarve and pointed one of the reasons for less rain and desertification as the extensive clearing of native trees to implement construction.

stark contrasts here, hotels sadly encroaching on farm- and grazingland ... the same in many parts of the world :-((
